Alright, we gotta air out our opinions on the recent discourse

Rehabilitation and an Argument Against Essentializing Sapients, a thread 1/*
To be clear, if there are exceptions to your principle of rehabilitation, then you don't understand why we use rehabilitative justice.

Rehabilitating people is done because it's the only way we can genuinely solve these problems. Punitive justice is a feel-good Band-Aid. 2/*
Punitive justice has been used throughout history, and never has it solved crime or done anything other than fuel someone's desire for vengeance, murdering countless people in the arms of its violent slaughterhouse.

3/*
And why was this done? Because people thought that criminals were born that way and couldn't be changed.

This is incorrect. Most crime is caused by poverty, along with other factors. Even Adolf Hitler's genocidal actions can be explained this way (continues on next post). 4/*
Adolf Hitler was a poor ex-soldier who found answers in far-right papers, and wandered into a Nazi meeting. To want him dead for being in the eye of the perfect storm is just as principally wrong as wanting to kill a thief who must perform their trade to survive capitalism. 5/*
If you want punitive justice, then you are NOT an ally of marginalized people, like us.

You still believe in the idea that people are fundamentally "good" or "bad". The only difference between you and a far righter is who you want dead, which only makes you slightly better. 6/*
If you want to needlessly torture and kill people for what they have done, you do not want to actually help us. You just see us as a little pawn you can use to justify living out revenge fantasies. 7/*
You fail to recognize that systems create people, and instead live in a fairytale land where the outcomes of socioeconomics are caused by people just deciding to be good or bad.

Leftism isn't some moral quality inherent to people at birth, it's a logical conclusion. 8/*
Unless you are part of a group placed in opposition to a right-wing ideology, it's very very easy to get sucked into those movements. We know this from personal experience. Knowing our Arab identity kept us from going further into the alt-right pipeline. 9/*
Remember that treating people as intrinsically bad or good goes against the core tenants of leftism and anarchy. We will add more if we think of anything. 10/*
