morning walk. holiday edition.
setting: biggest shopping weekend of year in one of highest income counties in US

Crate & Barrel: putting best spin on this year as possible ... come on, you sell a ton of holiday entertaining stuff. no big dinner parties this year.
next up. Ann Taylor: in the before times I’d go get a new blouse before a big interview or panel (confidence builder). haven’t bought anything (in store or online) here since March. bet I’m not alone.
Sephora: why bother? I only wash my hair when I have to turn the video on. press calls? you’d be appalled. not pretty.
Barnes and Nobel. made me smile, kinda. Maya Angelou commercialized in 2020. words are strong so I’ll take it.
more money saved .. my teen’s favorite store. my god what you pay for a very small bit of fabric. I always feel like 100 years old in it. she’s got no parties or events to need a new dress for. none.
most shocking saved for last. Apple store very empty (social distancing). no one browsing and making an impulse purchase (something Americans excel at, especially around here).
before you give me some bullshit “oh, but online sales” ... many many workers are hired every year to deal with the crush of holiday shopper crowds. they make some money to pay for their own holiday shopping. not this year. multiplier is a bitch.
macro is hard, it’s not that hard. we are screwed. small business owners, workers, and families are suffering. GET MORE MONEY OUT TO THEM, DC!!!!
my fav tequila bar. right by metro and went with hubby after many Fridays (and Wednesdays, sigh) in the before times. love how they add tips automatically in Covid times. – bei Don Tito
