The O has plenty of characters to make decisions on too, to go along w a brand spanking new Jay Cutler contract on a non contender. Pace’s job first two years were definitely not to win games, it was to play custodian and not get entangled in contracts that would impact future

Additionally his scout team didn’t begin with the bears until 2016, so first draft class a bit flying blind. Lastly, two other GM factors—coach selections (Fox not really his, but Nagy is and...), and commitment to state of art facilities & culture....would argue one pro one con.
