5/n I am usually not a big fan of Ilayaraja singing (there are of course exceptions like Janani Janani), but this song is a great choice for his voice. Also, the guitar strings in the lude are

7/n This beautiful song from the epic Salangai Oli has Janaki Amma singing for S P Sailaja, who is in her acting avatar. Kamal putting a ‘kumbudu’ to the (paid) review being written, is a relevant image for even today!
8/n One of ARR’s under-heard songs, இன்னிசை அளபெடையே from Varalaaru, deserves a listen for its rich composition and instrumentation :)
9/n Next to the first 30 seconds of Roja, I love this lude of மார்கழிப் பூவே (smart use of Venkatesa Suprabhatam there by ARR!). And what a beautiful album May Maadham is
10/n Raja has used this raagam quite extensively. So, including a few songs for the Raja-veriyans on the TL :) Paada Vandhadho Gaanam.
11/n Just another song where Raja effortlessly uses western instruments and flute in the interludes while delivering a soothing melody! SPB is
12/n Dharisanam Kidaikaadha from Alaigal Oivadhillai is Raja’s own Samaja Varagamana. The lude is not in Hindolam (you can clearly hear the Rishabam [Ri]), but notice the interlude at 2:31 for the alaapanai using S, G, M, D, N.
