2/ This, of course, misses the point, entirely, which is that gender/sex transition involves permanently life-altering decisions and procedures. If you are going to counsel someone to pursue that route, you have an ethical obligation to exhaust every possible alternative.

5/ ... genuinely suffer from gender dysphoria. When you thrust upon the public the notion that accepting someone like Jamie Clayton means that they also have to accept a middle-aged man in a wig as a woman, it does a terrible injustice to the Jamie Claytons of the world.
6/ But what’s worse is the injustice it does to the patient’s family. It might be one thing to tell a single and childless #autogynephile that it’s perfectly ok to transition, but many (probably, the majority) are married and/or have children.
7/ How do you tell those kids that, well, sorry, but your daddy discovered at age 35 or 45 that he’s really a woman, without even considering an alternative diagnosis? Only someone who regards the outcome as a political imperative would countenance such a thing.
8/ And that’s what I find most appalling. When you sign up for a profession, you do so in the service of the best interests of your patients/clients. Your ego, your political views, or your desire to prove that the world works in a certain way, doesn’t enter into the picture.
9/ At least, it shouldn’t. But this is the generation of wokeness, for whom every proposition is rooted in intersectionality. If someone is suffering, it must be by the hand of a repressive culture. Personal agency, or traditional notions of love ...
10/ ... duty, honor, and loyalty are disregarded, if they are considered at all. If you try to point out that maybe a man should give a though to his responsibilities to others, you are dismissed as a hater.
11/ *Or you get dismissed as a “boomer”. I love the irony of that one. No generation did more to take western culture down the road of self-indulgence than the boomers, a generation to which I was a late-comer (born at the cusp of Gen-X).
