I love yellow eyes in anime. I think they're so pretty and cool. I want to make a thread on characters with yellow eyes.
I think I would first like to explain what the color means.
Yellow as a color represents happiness, sunshine, cowardice, creativity, optimism, caution, and jealousy. It's a color that has a platitude of meaning. Yellow roses also represent friendship.

In anime, character design is important. Eyes are considered windows into the soul. Which is why friendly and nice characters have big wide eyes and why shady untrusting characters tend to have small squinty eyes.

so not only does eye size and shape play a role in showing a character's personality. So does eye color. It's common in anime to give characters fantastical unrealistic eye colors if only to physically portray their personality.
To start, I want to point out Hawks of BNHA eye color and shape. his eyes are a dull yellow, to show he is a positive individual but also cunning. He's got large almond shaped eyelids and small iris' giving away that he's serious, sneaky, sly, but ultimately kind.

Something of note, hawks (the bird) can naturally have yellow eyes. Hawks is also the kind of person willing to do things others can't. Yellow on the darker side, also means maturity. Hawks always thinks of the greater good. Maturely putting others above himself.
Next, I want to show Tamaki from #FireForce. She has gold eyes to show that she's a very loyal, optimistic, childish, and slightly cowardly person. She also posses angular, 'friendly' eye shapes while her iris' are cat slits. Showing that her design is deliberately cat focused.
Tamaki has a 'tsundere' like personality. Often lashing out when she's embarrassed. The color gold also denotes to value, she's valuable to a lot of people and charms them with her unfortunate 'lucky letcher'.
Next is Henry from #BlackClover. Henry has droopy, downturned eyes. They're a cadmium yellow. Cadmium yellow is often used in toxic pigments, and denotes to caution. He is cursed to steal magic indefinitely which causes people to avoid him and led to him being bedridden.
However, his eyes also show that's he kind, happy, loyal, and creative. His eyes are almost always covered by his long hair. This parallels how he was hidden in the base. He loves his friends dearly attacking enemies mercilessly to protect them.
Next I would like to talk about Gowther of #NanatsuNoTaizai. He's a living doll, with round dreamy eyes. The color being butterscotch. He's usually looking into the distance, not directly at people. He has trouble understanding other people.
Gowther is mentally a newborn baby. He knows he wants to be close to people but isn't sure how to do that. Constantly seeking to be with people, he manipulates people with false memories. He has a youthful, energetic, manipulative, egoist personality.
Lastly in this list, I would like to talk about Mary of #kakegurui. She's got upturned series eyes, and they are the color of honey and medallion. She's someone who is manipulative, intelligent, sly, creative, determined, and cowardly.
Mary is a very determined person, willing to do anything to win. She uses her intelligence and cunning to win at gambling. Despite her self servient nature, she can and will work with others if it means beating an opponent. She's easy to intimidate but don't let that fool you.
