My daughter doesn’t look like me.

If she’s running away during a meltdown at an outdoor shopping center — I’m not trying to abduct her.

Our family car was terrifyingly surrounded by the police while driving home last night.
A shopper was concerned after seeing me chase down my daughter and carry her to our car.

I get it — you want to make sure my child was safe. I appreciate you.

However, it only takes a second to say hey, I just want to make sure everything is ok.
As a parent, I appreciate the super fast and intense response by the police.

If my children or any other child was abducted — those minutes are crucial to recovery.
This can be used as a learning moment.

It may be awkward — but just say hey, everything ok here?

In the middle of a toddler meltdown I may seem a bit annoyed — but that’s a much better alternative to the one my family experienced last night.
