In my limited stay in Punjab, Ive seen many Muslims with names that would confuse anyone at first sight. Names like Jaspal, Jagpreet and the likes. No one here bats an eyelid. Except for ppl like ⬇️ who have no understanding of culture or facts, except for their warped world view https://twitter.com/iSengarAjayy/status/1332399779037409280
I know it's not really common these days, but in our parents' generation and in the ones before theirs, not all muslims had typical " Muslim names". Names usually originate from Culture, Language and Religion. Of late, Religion has dictated Naming, but it wasn't always so.
I see Sikhs with "Hindu names", Muslims with "Sikh names" and Hindus with Sikh sounding names. This culture has been an amalgam. Yes, it was violently stirred during the Partition, but its melting pot nature hasn't disappeared completely. And I take pride in this.
