Tell the public Labour is being asked to choose between No Deal (which the govt promised wouldn't happen) and a Bad Deal (which the govt promised wouldn't happen). And Labour cannot, in good conscience, impose either on the Nation. We need a good deal, so the govt must get one
Therefore Labour will abstain on this vote, cos it's not putting its name to something so damaging to the future. Instead, Labour should call for a vote to delay Brexit by 2 years - 1 year for Covid to be fixed (which is what the govt should be focused on)...
And then in the 2nd year the govt can seek a better deal. But that deal must be put to the country in a second referendum, to be certain this is what people want. Polling shows it isn't (only 38% still want Brexit). Why rush through a shit deal that breaks all promises?
Finally, the realpolitik of it.

Brexit will cause huge problems. For the next 4 years Labour could use this as a big stick stick with which to beat the Tories.

Instead, the Tories can just say "Labour voted for it", and the attack goes away.

Huge, huge mistake @UKLabour
