I feel that in a way the insecurities and conflicting feelings the boys are experiencing and Namjoon is voicing are evident or mirrored in the fandom as well. Weâre experiencing the same struggles to define our identity. It might have been easier when the goal was clearer cut: +
+ getting more and more exposure and recognition for BTS and their exceptional talent and work worldwide. Now weâre sort of at a crossroads: they are âthe biggest bandâ in the world - what now? Will they stay that? How? Do they want that? What are they willing to do for it? +
+ Will they be loved *and* successful by staying true to themselves? We have been witnessing how their thoughts and goals have been changing throughout the years, also with differences between the members - but always with a strong emphasis on the core of what makes them BTS: +
+ sincerity, introspection, hard work, constant growth and a focus on the team. I think what ARMY needs to do is to listen to the members, who talk about their feelings and thoughts openly, to understand where they are at in their lives and careers at a certain point +
+ and then do what we can to support them to be true to themselves at that particular stage. At the moment it seems clear from Namjoonâs interview that they want their art to be appreciated as art by Korean artists signed to a Korean label - who do things in their way. +
+ They want to be relevant as an influence in peopleâs lives, they want to touch and connect. Yoongi didnât just say he wants BTS to be number 1 on BB, he also said he wanted them to be the most influential artists. Thatâs different to me. Letâs focus on our boysâ Korean +
+ artistry and make sure they can maintain their Korean identity and be recognised for that and be Korean artists who are influential worldwide.
