I rewatched yesterday's #SCEBATKMB match today morning. ATKMB possess one of the meanest defences in the #ISL and opposition defences will mostly get easier from here on but 2 shots on target in 90 mins was way too less.

A thread on the chances and shots taken from last night.
7’ – @sc_eastbengal's first big chance. A touch off Maghoma found Pilkington in the box. He managed to find some space following Pritam Kotal’s failed tackle but instead of getting through with the shot, he tried to bring the ball to his right foot which allowed Tiri to recover.
15’ – Following a perfect cross by Loken Meetei from the left, Arindam found himself in no man’s land to deal with it and had Surchandra timed his run better, this could have been another good chance for SC East Bengal. I think this will get better with time. Lack of preparation.
20’ – @sc_eastbengal's first shot on target and it was bleh! Pilkington found some space outside the box and took the shot only for Arindam to save it comfortably. On closer look, it would have been better if Pilkington saw Narayan’s run down the left to deliver a good cross in.
29’ – Following a spell of ATKMB attack, Narayan delivered a good cross which found Maghoma in the box only for him to head wide. Considering it was a free header with a late dash made by Jhingan, Maghoma should have forced a save out of Arindam. Really poor execution here.
33’ – Throwback to the old Kolkata football days. Take a long ranger off nowhere and hope it's in. @Robbie9Fowler will need to eliminate this type of shots. A wasteful effort by Rana Gharami with all the big men up front. One can see the player on the right crying for the ball.
38’ – @sc_eastbengal's best chance of the first half. Following a cross from Surchandra from the left, Balwant found himself at the end of it after Kotal got sucked in and failed to clear it but Balwant shot wide with his right foot. Would have been better had he used his left.
51’ – First shot post ATKMB’s first goal by Roy Krishna. I will just stay silent for this shot from Gharami.
59’ – Perhaps our best chance of the second half. Following a brilliant piece of skill by Pilkington, Balwant had good amount of space when he received the through pass from Loken. (contd.)
However, Balwant took too much time to get the shot off which allowed Tiri to close down the space and forced Balwant to shoot wide. Balwant should have shot quicker and should have worked Arindam here again.

@jejefanai, please get fitter. We and @IndianFootball needs you. :/
63’ – A good shot attempted by Maghoma from outside the box when he noticed a good amount of space in front of him between Prabir and Kotal. The ball was still rising as it went whizzing past the upper bar. It forced Habas to bring on Pronay to bridge the spaces in midfield.
70’ – This came after a set-piece routine between Maghoma and Pilkington. Loken was in no position whatsoever to take a shot from that position. His body was disbalanced as well while taking the shot. (contd.)
A better option would have been to swivel and pass to Ambekar (bottom in the above pic) or to run on the right hand side vacant space to provide a cross with so many men in the box.
82’ – @sc_eastbengal's second shot on target and it forced a save out of Arindam. This came 62 minutes after the first which shows how poor our finishing was yesterday. This shot also came from a distance after Pilkington found some space to shoot.
And that was the last chance which we created last night. Altogether, we took 15 shots out of which 2 produced a save out of Arindam and 4 were blocked off. 6 out of the 15 shots were taken from inside the box and both on target were from outside the box. Stats via @SofaScoreINT.
As I said before, things are likelier to get easier from here although we do face @MumbaiCityFC next which won't be very easy. Inspite of some good control in midfield, we did not create enough chances from close range and the ones we did, did not force a save.
Off to @MumbaiCityFC next. Another side which is in transition. Might be better for us to play them early than later on in the season when Lobera has got some of his ideas drilled in. Hoping for a better game in that one.
