Someone issued a counter-challenge, and said if we raised $2021 in the next 15 minutes I should have to continue producing and hosting the event each Friday in December. I jokingly accepted....
Over the next 40 mins these people, some of them friends, most of them strangers, donated more than $7,700 to help other Canadians in need. It was virtual. We were all distanced. And in our own parts of the city and the country...
Yet the energy, and the momentum, and the feeling of being able to help do something small during this shitty time was so exciting and, ironically, infectious.
I had a bad week. Many people I know, and many people I work with did too. But this reminded me just how lovely, compassionate, and caring most humans are.
