I believe in the power of education. But I know that some people cannot learn even obvious truths. People in America today who think COVID-19 isn’t real are, for the most part, not going to wise up. 1/
COVID-19 deniers are invested in never knowing truths about the disease, and so they are not going to suddenly learn these truths. 2/
The problem for everybody else is how to deal with people who are dangerously committed to their ignorance. 3/
This is a tough problem. But it won’t be solved by educating such people about COVID-19. It will be solved by requiring them to change their behavior. 4/
Requiring vaccinations is going to be as important as educating people about vaccinations. 5/
States, localities, private businesses should be looking ahead to how to lawfully and fairly require proof of vaccination as prerequisite for access to shared spaces. 6/
Requiring proof of vaccination can only work if vaccines become widely available including to those with limited access to health providers. 7/
