Okay, i need to be clear about something

I understand why people hate sysmeds and certainly, the main group of them on Twitter are pretty cruel and nasty

but the core concept that somebody has the awful, "life-ruining" version of something and would like to believe that-
-it's not just something you can "randomly catch"? it's not.... that weird. it shouldn't be something that makes your brain break to consider, because dissociative identity disorder is not a small thing! plurality being demystified is good, and I am in support
and there are all sorts of variations on it between OSDD and non-disordered and whatnot -

but disordered DID is not.... like.... fun. and I'm starting to get pretty mad that we're getting to the point where we're forgetting that-
-the version of this with severe amnesia, alters you might not be able to consistently talk to, decisions you can't justify to anybody including yourself, chronic headaches, and all that fun is not! enjoyable!
sysmeds suck, i am anti-sysmed, but i am pro-"put yourself in the shoes of your pre-twitter self for two seconds and remember when you were asking people to take depression seriously and stop joking about it before you started crying"
this isn't even "have empathy" because i KNOW most of us have had this experience! like, hearing people mock autism or go "haha everybody's a little autistic" or go "oop sorry i am SUPER adhd" when they're just antsy and wanting to die inside
that's what sysmed stuff is born out of, not a random desire to Hate People For No Reason

it's still wrong, and it's still counterproductive, but it's coming out of ableism and the harm done by the world around us
sysmedicalism would go away instantly if we:

-had enough medical care for everybody and stopped making artificial shortages based on "who's crazy enough but also is responsive enough to care"
-didn't make jokes about crazy and mentally disabled people all the time
-didn't gatekeep mental health care based on race, income, gender, transness, age, homelessness, indigeneity and a billion other factors
-actually educated people on mental health
-supported our most vulnerable with social safety nets like UBI, at LEAST
