Why this is one of my favorite shots in Haikyuu S4
- Small thread -
Across this season the angling has done a great job at conveying the sense of the scale of the occasion. Different emotions and struggles under the same roof. HS volleyball at the highest level
If you didn't notice the coach is looking at the ball Hinata received in the first shot, and in my opinion is a nice symbol for the work of not only Hinata, but every player who has excelled under this pressure. Showing how high the quality of skill is here
Highlighting that a coach working at the highest level in all of Japanese volleyball acknowledged the novelty of this moment is a standard but effective way to communicate to the viewer. Credibility and experience that convinces us that this is worthwhile to listen too
It's one of the most important pieces of insight that speaks not just for Hinata or Karasuno, but anything involving your concentrated effort. One of the ideas that makes Haikyuu such a far-reaching series
To dial back the focus, for us as the viewer, we know more than the coach of what Hinata and this team have gone through to reach this point. So while this coach has maybe seen this many times, it still adds unto the progression our protagonist took to reach this point
As the narration moves to one of the most special moments for Hinata and Kageyama's dynamic, the payoff is just that more impactful coming off the themes communicated right before. A fantastic sequence of moments
So as the anime moves into the climax of this match, placing into our mind one of the running ideas of Nationals as an arc makes everything else to come that much more exciting
I don't think this anything too complex but it's some of my own thoughts as to why this EP is important.

RT's always appreciated 👍🏼
