After a 1,221-day wait, ICAC finally released their report on alleged NSW Government water corruption to the public (on Black Friday).

ICAC have cleared ALL Ministers AND bureaucrats AND water lobbyists of corruption.

Let's look at some of ICAC’s decisions. #auspol

Thread👇
Yes, Ex-Nationals Minister told certain irrigators there was NO embargo to pump water in the Barwon Darling River, even though the NSW Govt had an embargo in place.

But not corruption. ICAC says there was “confusion about the legal status” and Minister was in “campaign mode”.
Yes, Ex-Nationals Minister approved 2012 Water Sharing Plan changes to favour certain irrigators after cotton grower lobbied the NSW Govt.

But not corruption. ICAC says Minister did not know lobbyist “personally or socially”, and there was nothing improper about the lobbying.
Yes, the NSW Govt told the Fed Govt to buy back water from Tandou Station at twice the market value, giving Webster Ltd a massive profit.

But not corruption. ICAC says Govt pushed for purchase not because of any benefit to Webster, but because of importance to Menindee Lakes.
Yes, senior NSW Govt bureaucrat provided confidential “de-badged” government information to certain lobbyists.

But not corruption. ICAC says “taking into account the atmosphere he was working in… he was doing what he thought was expected of him”.
If we accept ICAC’s conclusion that no individual acted corruptly, doesn’t that mean there’s something seriously wrong with our system?

Millions of dead fish, towns running out of drinking water while certain companies make massive profits. But nobody is held to account.
