The essence of youth, both in terms of neurofunction and perceived time speed - is doing new things.

Having new experiences,
Learning new skills and hobbies

Anything like this forces new myelin sheaths to be made,
SHOCKING you out of your repeated habits.
IF you repeat the same path of events each day,

over and over. Your brain and body becomes very efficient at this process, whatever it is.

IT becomes so engrained in our systems that we don't have to think about it consciously to do it.
When we spend lots of our waking day performing unconscious routine tasks, then it ends up all blending together.

There are no discernible and unique events for our brain to bother being aware of.

Our relative awareness of the passing of time speeds up in these situations.
Head to your 9-5 job
Repeat the same tasks
talk to the same people
drive the same route home

This puts your life on a speedrun mode.

You will look back after 20 years and say 'where did the time go'... as it all blends into each other.
It is imperative that you are always learning - not only to broaden the width of the knowledge you can draw on

but to force your brain to adapt to new movements and 'problem solving' - resulting in a more resilient brain overall
