That's the very crucial element it will try to identify when processing the image. Movement and shapes that may indicate the presence of a life form. Humans and animals first.

It's been proven that we are also attracted to the direction people are facing. If they're looking at left, your next brain move will be "HEY, WHAT'S UP LEFT ?!".

Diagonals and curves tend to drive our vision in a direction, whereas horizontal and vertical ones will create a frame of focus, a visual cage that won't invite your brain to follow a direction.

The brighter areas are also an obvious choice of focus.

Another thing that we tend to prioritize is the sharpest elements first, the blurry items will be processed afterwards even though they might be before the sharpened subject.

Finally, text and signage is also catching brain's attention very early, we have been used to text providing us with crucial information about how to understand our world and communicate our own thoughts to it.
