Many see social media as a problem, but I'm still amazed by it. Being able to read thoughts and follow events in real time across the world is a power past generations would've considered magic. We've essentially been granted clairvoyance & telepathy, and we complain about it.
Sure, tweets can be maddening & misleading, but ultimately Twitter shows you what you've chosen to see, so if it's stressing you out, consider the possibility that the problem is you, by looking at the kinds of people you interact with, follow, and are followed by.
Few people get the numbers of followers they deserve, but most get the kinds of followers they deserve. Reasonable tweets attract reasonable followers, resentful tweets attract resentful followers. View the general disposition of your followers as a mirror to show you your own.
Twitter has a reputation as a "hellsite" only because so many don't know how to use it. Follow the sincere & incisive, interact with the courteous & open-minded, filter out drama & tribalism, and it will become an easy source of knowledge, connection, and opportunity.
