Legal and illegal tactics mini thread.

Im convinced after seeing the aftermath of my fellow eviction defense workers getting arrested while defending homes in el sereno yesterday that we make it too easy for cops by mixing legal and illegal activities in the same group. 1/6

George Jackson explained the benefit of splitting into dedicated legal and illegal activity groups who support each other and work intimately together. The illegalists defend the legal group. The legal group is the public face who does things like the Black Panthers did. 2/6

This isnt to say we should support non revolutionary groups like the DSA. Everything should point to revolution. The verbalized goals of both groups must be the same. The legal and illegal group members are both marked for death so neither is safe. 3/6

The main difference is in the level of vetting necessary and the size of the group. The illegalists can get a lot of work done with a very small core. The legal group gets the masses involved. The illegalists move with speed and secrecy, the other group works in the open. 4/6

The Black Panthers, though they were painted as militants, had no illegalist wing defending their leaders. We right now are willing to do illegal things to protect common people but we expose ourselves to easy mass arrest. We need to think tactically AND compassionately. 5/6
