An aspiring screenwriter & Storytelling post-graduate student thoughts about #TharnTypeSS2EP4, a thread
Let’s start by the kitchen scene, shall we? I have to praise the director and filming crew for this scene. The lighting? The angles? The close ups? THE LIGHTING? The slow motion... Absolutely immaculate! Such a great job.
If we look at the script, this scene is beautifully written, the dialogue is sweet, funny and sexy but why is it important? It shows that Tharn & Type have changed and matured as a couple, it shows how eager Tharn is to show Type he can take care of him
and hopefully change his thoughts about marriage, it shows that even though they disagree on something that could potentially ruin their relationship they love each other regardless, not to mention that this scene is also important to represent LGBT couples, which TTTS
has become a symbol of, this scene is meant to show that love is between two people regardless of gender and that queer relationships can be just as beautiful as hetero ones and should be treated as such.
The scene where Fiat is eating a cake is also very draggy but I can see the point of including it, there had to be a reason for him to encounter Type, which foreshadows the main conflict in the story: that Fiat is going to try to steal Type from Tharn.
About Champ and Dr. Khunpol, as much as I love their awkward puppy love vibes, I don’t like nor hate their scenes, they confuse me because I still don’t understand in what way they will contribute to the main storyline and main pairing.
I’m guessing it will be a bridge for Type and Dr. Khunpol to become closer and maybe have each other’s backs against Type’s hateful boss? This is just a guess though. I’m trying to make sense to whatever little thing is given to us.
Also, I’ve talked about in another tweet about Fiat and Leo’s shoe buying scene and let me just emphasize that unless TharnType is some kind of Cinderella adaptation, that scene is completely useless. It doesn’t build neither the character or the relationship of the couple
It doesn’t contribute to the storyline in anyway, which means it’s a filler scene and is only taking screentime away from the main couple, whose scenes that took a lot of work to shoot were not shown!
That shows not only an incredible amount of disrespect towards the main actors but also towards fans that have already seen teaser photos and tweets regarding these deleted scenes.
Again, main actors Gulf and Mew and their fans are the reason TharnType is so successful today but they’re precisely the ones who are not being heard and prioritized.
It was not okay to tease about the Kitchen scene and then not include it, it was not okay to talk/ tweet about how the popcorn/ couch scene took 6 long takes to film and not show it either. Why would you build up fans/ viewers expectations and hype it up when you have no
intention of showing it to them? What angers me is that we know the scenes exist, we have receipts to prove it, which means you would just rather waste time of the episode that fans long for all week with filler scenes instead of scenes that
matter to prove and show Tharn and Type’s love for each other, a love so deep that they’re considering getting married in a society who is judgmental, in a country where it’s still not legal and seen as a right. SHOWING THEIR LOVE IS THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS SEASON.
STOP DEPRIVING FANS AND VIEWERS OF THAT.
Ps: This is perhaps a reach but I’m also mad about the scene where Type goes to confront Nana about her infatuation with Tharn, a scene that is teased about in episode 3, but that barely shows in episode 4 and is dragged to episode 5???
PLEASE, do better! For Gulf and Mew’s exquisite acting skills, for the old cast, for the new cast, for the filming crew and finally... for fans that have been waiting so long to see TharnType’s love bloom.
