Went to listen in on the Kevin Hart convo, and I will say this: the notion that cancel culture is new is utterly and profoundly bullish*t. Blackballing ain't new. The power balance is now simply tipped to the masses.
The democratization of content is at an all-time high. Social media, of course, is key to that. But we can talk all day about how people built voice and platform using this environment to get opportunities that never existed for them before.
That same system works in reverse.
Are there injustices in that system? Hell, yes. But, all this clowning from people who believe they have a right to fame and fortune is tiresome.
You won't ever make me feel bad for Bill Cosby or Harvey Weinstein. Try as you might, I ain't never gone be here for that. There are comedians and other entertainers that I truly enjoy. And, some of them I don't eff anymore for whatever reason.
We're talking about an industry that is built on the court of public opinion. Anyway, Imma go tend to these leftovers. It's tiresome.
