European Philosophers grouped under the “Enlightenment Era” umbrella had many fundamental disagreements. This was facilitated by the movement itself, which promoted questioning norms & authority and using reason to think for oneself.

Modern Satanists inherited this condition...
Voltaire thought Rousseau was a nitwit; Bentham thought “natural rights” are a metaphysically indefensible idea; Hobbes was a monarchist. One can believe in “basic human rights” & disagree with Locke on what they are; one can support free speech while hating Voltaire’s racism...
...all of this is interesting to me, because a group of Satanists may all be inspired by “Enlightenment ideals”, and obviously will not all agree with ALL “Enlightenment Philosophers”... and they even may not all agree with each other.

And that’s OK.
I see passionate arguments, sometimes with harsh words & hurt feelings, over how broad ideas like empathy, justice, & freedom should manifest in today’s world.

It saddens me when people disrespect each other, but I’m glad discussions are happening. We can learn from each other.
