[IMPORTANT THREAD]
Been seeing a lot of instances of sexual harassment and bullying online.
Here's how to file a complaint with the National Cyber Crimes Reporting Portal along with some basic information about it:
Firstly, mentioning the most common offences on social media platforms:
1. CHILD PORNOGRAPHY/ CHILD SEXUALLY ABUSIVE MATERIAL (CSAM)
2. CYBER BULLYING
3. CYBER STALKING
4. CYBER GROOMING
5. ONLINE SEXTORTION
6. SEXTING
If anyone sends you a sexually explicit photo/video/text message without your consent, or threatens to leak your sensitive information if you don't provide them money or sexual favours, that person can be booked under the relevant provisions of the law.
Go to the http://cybercrime.gov.in  portal.
Tap on 'File A Complaint'
There are two options for reporting cybercrimes on the portal:

1. Report Crime related to Women/ Child – Under this section, you can report complaints pertaining to online Child Pornography (CP),
Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or sexually explicit content such as Rape/Gang Rape (CP/RGR) content. It also includes unsolicited nudes, sexually explicit media, texts, emails and sextortion.
2. Report Other Cybercrimes – Under this option, you can report complaints pertaining to cybercrimes such as mobile crimes, online and social media crimes, online financial frauds, ransomware, hacking, cryptocurrency crimes and online cyber trafficking.
Report Anonymously - You can report crimes related to online Child Pornography/ Rape or Gang Rape (CP/RGR) content anonymously. You do not need to provide any personal information. Information related to the complaint should be accurate & complete for the police to act upon.
Report and Track – Under this option, fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are mandatory. It is important that the police authorities receive accurate and complete information related to the complaint.
Therefore, you should provide required information such as your name, phone number, email address, details of the complaint and necessary information supporting the complaint.
Initially, register yourself using your name & valid Indian mobile number. You will receive a One Time Password (OTP) on your mobile number. The OTP remains valid for 30 minutes only. After registering your mobile number on the portal, you will be able to report the complaint.
Which UT/State to select:
In case of filing a complaint under “Report Crime related to Women/ Child” section by using “Report Anonymously” option, the victims’ location/ State/ UT where the incident has happened should be selected.
If it is a report pertaining to website hosting Child Pornography/ Rape or Gang Rape (CP/RGR) content, complainant may select his/her current State/ UT of resident.
Using the 'Report and Track' option is better sometimes so that the authorities can ask you follow up questions and ask for more details.
Evidence that can be included in your complaint:

1. Copy of email
2. URL of webpage
3. Chat transcripts
4. Suspect mobile number screenshot
5. Videos

It is recommended that you provide as much information about the complaint as possible so that the police authorities working on the complaint are able to take appropriate and prompt action.
Once your complaint is submitted, you will receive a confirmation message in the portal itself.
In case, you have filed a complaint through “Report and Track” option or “Report Other Cybercrime” section available on the portal, you will receive a SMS and an e-mail with a complaint reference number on your registered mobile number and e-mail ID.
You will be able to check status of your complaint if you have reported the complaint using “Report and Track” option or “Report Other Cybercrime” section available on the portal. You can login using your reference number and tap on 'Check Status' for the same.
