OK, Twitter — I need your help getting the word out. Everyday, over 1000 children are born in rural Egypt, who will never learn to read or write. So instead of going on sale this weekend, we’re donating 100% of proceeds to build three new schools. https://kotn.com/abc
This project started before we even launched Kotn. We were visiting some farming communities, and were asking where the children went to school. Turns out, they didn’t, there was no school.

In fact, only a few people in the town even knew how to read or write.
I don’t just mean books, many have never even learned to write their own name. When signing official documents, they instead use a thumb print.

They are happy, loving, intelligent and supportive. What they know beyond books, I will work on for the rest of my life.
Last year, I travelled to a village near Faiyum, and met this man. Who graciously donated a plot of land, so we could build a school for his community. He joked that he hoped one day his son would be able to learn to read, so he could understand the billboard on the highway.
This is a film we made, to try to tell their story. This is wearing your purchase starts. Whether in Egypt, or in China, or India, or Peru. These are the people that spend every day on their farms, so we can look good and feel comfortable.
It was filmed in the village of Sakara, where we built our last school. The 37 students that we could enroll were the first ever in their community to learn to read or write. Here’s my wife Mackenzie, celebrating with them.
I know this is a big ask. This weekend, you get double the buying power anywhere else. I’ll probably be shopping some sales too. But if you have been thinking about buying something from us, this is the time. If you can’t afford it, please share this thread!
