The head of GBB has just ‘retired’ for health reasons. He was 79 with no background in the sport. We have a staff of two true coaches. A back room staff of volunteers. We are taking a peashooter to a gunfight.

This may be by choice. There have long been concerns that no-one is really interested in the national team. Power grabs between national associations and GBB. No-one wanting to pay the going rate for elite preparation.

But this bears repeating. OUR HEAD COACH isn’t there. Again. He’s not coaching anywhere else. No-one has said where he is or why he isn’t there. Elite sport teams cannot be expected to operate successfully in a vacuum of leadership. And noone knows who is in charge of the program

That is just unsustainable on every level. No accountability = no chance. The guys putting the effort in on the court deserve more
