Here's my problem. Churches should be responsible. MacArthur, for example, wasn't. COVID was seeing record numbers in his own county and his church is massive and largely elderly. That was bad and irresponsible.
With that being said, areligious people like MacFarlane diminish the spiritual nature of this situation because they aren't religious. There has literally never been a time in church history where we stopped gathering for the length of time that we have stopped gathering in 2020.
So comparing a liquor store to a church gathering is hilariously tone-deaf. To Christians, the church is not just essential but it is the most essential. And many of us have stopped gathering in good faith to stop the spread, for what? To be compared to liquor stores? Nah.
You don't have to be religious, but to my non-religious friends, don't be like Seth. Understand that for Christians and Muslims and Jewish folk and whoever else you want to include, religion isn't a social club. Our faith is our existence. Don't be like Seth.
