In about 2007 I had a 30gb Creative Zen Nomad MP3 player. I loved that damn thing. It had all the latest hits; Reel Big Fish, Weird Al Yankovic, Train, and everything the Red Hot Chili Peppers had ever made.
It was a big ol’machine.
I’d had it a few years, and was living in London. Walking home from Camden one day, I was at a crossing waiting for the green man, probably listening to Papa Roach on my nicked-from-an-airplane headphones, with my MP3 player in its little pleather case, looped onto my belt.
Yes. I was one of those people.
There were 3 guys standing next to me.
I was about to be mugged.
One of them shoved me and yanked my headphone out. Another said to give them my iPod.
The Shover then pulled my hoody up, exposing my beloved Creative Zen Nomad MP3 player
Then - in what I can only call a hidden security feature of this fantastic device - Mugger #2 said “shit, it’s just a fucking Walkman”
They then just... left.

So top tip for tech manufacturers; make your devices look like old cheap tech that you can buy for £3 at cash converters
And thanks to @RichyCraven and his fantastic thread for reminding me about this! Funniest thing I’ve read in ages, great stuff Richy!! https://twitter.com/richycraven/status/1332095349176086536
