ICYMI: Many writers have left the wattpad stars program. THIS IS A RED FLAG!! Congratulations to the writers who made the hard decision, you all have a talent and I believe you will find the perfect environment to thrive in.

Now here’s another important lesson to learn. There’s unsystematic risk which can easily be eliminated by diversification of your portfolio. So in plain English, there is a risk with putting all your eggs in one basket.
In terms of investment, writers invest their time and hard work. If you’re only writing on wattpad and get 100k followers, 10M reads and then wattpad deletes your account? Investment lost.
The most simple way to not risk this is to make sure you have another investment. YOU DON’T OWE WATTPAD YOUR LOYALTY. There are a few ways I’ve been researching or talking to other writers on how to move away from just having everything on wattpad. I’m going to list a few.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH TOO AND NOT JUST BLINDLY FOLLOW MINE. (I’m human and I make mistakes.)
PROTECT YOURSELF AND GET LEGAL ADVICE WITH CONTRACTS TOO!!

When doing your own research be sure to do the following:
-check what the company’s aim
-try to talk to someone who’s got experience
-make sure you pick a choice that is most beneficial for you. There’s no use in you copying your friends when they have different goals.

1.1 Radish @radish_fiction
Now Radish is all about serialisation with an aim for chapters of 1-2k. They are big on romance. As a writer you will be able to choose your pricing model and they have full transparency of how much you have earned and how much you earn per coin.

1.2 The thing with radish is you need to apply in order to become a writer. They have a thorough screening process. They want 30 pages (approx 10k words) manuscript, a synopsis of the book you want to publish, links to your social and to know about you as a writer.
1.3 Radish usually get back to you in 2 weeks about your application and you need to wait a certain time before applying again. (I still haven’t applied because I’m scared

2.1 Inkitt @Inkitt
Inkitt is similar to wattpad. All you need to do is sign up to be able to write. Inkitt is very big on the werewolf. Writers receive feedback in reviews. Inkitt would be the easiest to move since majority of reader both use wattpad and Inkitt as it’s free.

2.2 Inkitt has a royalty program that you can apply to. They have an application process and you’ll earn based on the amount of reads. So you’ll be able to earn a profit while your readers read for free. (I’ve got a profile but published nothing)

3.1 Traditional publishing
I haven’t looked too deeply into this but important point I’ve seen is when querying with agents, make sure you follow the requirements they want. Some don’t want books that have been published online already and some don’t mind.

3.2 Each agent in different. Make sure you research any agents you receive offers from. I don’t have interest in traditional publishing but research is very, very important. There’s plenty of threads I’ve seen floating around twitter too.
4.1 Self-publishing
Again, important points: you make your deadlines, you receive more royalties BUT there’s a lot of costs you need to cover such as an editor, cover designer, marketing firm fee and someone to format. These expenses vary.

4.2 You will need to be able to also promote your stories and making connections with other writers will help you a lot since everyone has different experiences. You’re basically organising everything about your book and it’s not as simple as it seems.
5.1 Honourable mentions
I know these websites exist but not enough for a whole paragraph. Again do your own research.
Commaful @commaful
Short multimedia stories. All you need to do is sign up to get started. I’m going to sign up soon & let everyone know about my experience.

Patreon @Patreon
You can have different tiers and your readers pay a month subscription fee to access your work.
Wix @Wix
Basically you make your own website. Honestly I don’t know more.

This brings us to the end of this thread. REMEMBER TO DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND NOT SIGN CONTRACTS WITHOUT GETTING LEGAL ADVICE!! I hope this has been helpful. I’ll try to do a thread on strategically moving your readers soon.
