I’m getting tired of this narrative that a small business wanting to stay afloat & provide for their families means they are choosing “profit over people.” Profit is livelihood and food on the table. You would know if you owned a small business and had a family to provide for.
Instead of channeling all of this hate at small business owners and sending police to arrest them, why don’t we channel this energy into criticizing congress for not passing a stimulus bill? Or the local DC govt?
And it’s ridiculous that I had to take 5 minutes to decide if this tweet was too “controversial.” If you work in a stable 9-5 with mostly guaranteed employment & healthcare then you would never understand what small biz owners go through to stay afloat.
We’re not talking about places like Walmart and Amazon. We’re talking about your local neighborhood family owned restaurant, gift shop, art store, gym, etc.
Also the DC government providing “heat lamps” to restaurants is not going to cut it this winter. And what will places with no outdoor dining options do? And also remember that govt assistance loans are not gifts, they are LOANS.
