if you’re a leftist who hates “tankies” or people who defend Stalin and think they are the same as nazis, consider this: there is no motivation for historians, the US State department and the school system to lie about Hitler.
there is absolutely no motivation to lie about a man who hardly bucked against US interests, was extremely inspired by our own laws and was besties with one of the most famous businessmen from the US. However you can bet your ass that there’s motivation to lie about Stalin
there is definitely motivation to lie about the man who industrialized what was practically a third world country and turning it into a super power, using socialist policies and succeeding in the face of two World Wars, multiple invasions, a massive famine and a Civil War.
there absolutely is motivation to lie about somebody who gave workers power and say in their own lives while turning their country into a socialist powerhouse. if you think Stalin is nearly as bad as Hitler, or even Winston Churchill or most US presidents, you’re misguided

so this thread has got a ton of attention which is dope so i’m just gonna say one more thing: my argument here is that people who defend Stalin aren’t nearly as heinous as people who defend Hitler
as socialists who live in the west, you know for a fact how much communism is lied about. why wouldn’t they lie about one of the most important communist figures of all time? i’m not trying to argue that Stalin was perfect
i’m simply pointing out that questioning and challenging the mainstream liberal narrative on Stalin doesn’t make you a horrible person or equivalent to a literal nazi, especially when a lot of “information” about Stalin is sourced from Nazi propaganda.
y’all really be like: “yes, i’ve been lied to about everything from Thanksgiving to the definition of socialism since i was a child. no i can’t even fathom the idea that i may have been lied to about one of the most famous communists to ever live. yes i’m logically consistent”
