Every time Barnett says or does something to piss off the left (which is often, because she's a dreadful right wing hack) there is an explosion of replies & comments etc pointing out that her father was convicted of offences relating to sex trafficking. Now >
To be blunt, this is really grotesque, shitty behaviour. Barnett is a 35 year old woman who is no more defined by or responsible for her parents than any of the rest of us. The children & family of ex-offenders & prisoners have more than enough shit to deal with >
from rightwing bigots without the left adding to it. And if you think you are only targeting one privileged media personality with this shit you are kidding yourself, you are actively adding to stigma & prejudice affecting prisoners' families everywhere.
God knows there are more than enough grounds to go after Barnett for the ridiculous shit she's said herself ("nationalised sausages, anyone?") without dredging up her family. It's just nasty, inexcusable bullying & if you've ever been part of it have a fucking word with yourself.
