there was no need to call BTS fans deranged as a blanket statement because of a disagreement over their US success. these messages came off incredibly condescending and your lack of empathy and choice to troll ppl by implying BTS are not talented afterward feel even moreso
these kinds of “troll first, screenshot the worst responses and use them to make blanket statements abt an entire fandom being unruly kiddy fangirls” tactics only end up fueling a hateful narrative about young women’s inability to be discerning and also an afficionado
nobody deserves to have ppl trying to reset their password or receive terrible messages online, but that doesn’t clear you of wrongdoing. you could have just respectfully stated an opinion, instead you insulted a group, a 20 million strong fandom, and young folks in general
it’s all “fun and games” and “just jokes” but for a group constantly being parodied, racially discriminated against and insulted in mass media, and for the vast majority of fans who know how to not be lowlife trolls, these tactics are invaidating and hurtful
i don’t expect an apology or a retraction and feel free to tweet about 2nd gen stans and groups having been so much smarter and better if you can back that up, like the folks who shat on BoA and miss A and SNSD years ago wouldn’t have sounded so much like you do right now
i hope people still recognize your youtube work as being thoughtful and important, but this is just pretty bad. and i hope you get some responses that can illuminate that respectfully for you rather than simply try to troll you
i hope you get respectful responses not just bc nobody deserves abuse, and not just bc the worst of the worst will obv make us look bad (as they would anyone) but bc there’s some valuable perspectives on this that should be shared and heard as well as possible
and i hope nobody who follows me and sees my response to kat sends her abuse, for obvious reasons, but especially bc there’s so much to potentially be said otherwise
