I like traditional British working class values - like Lancashire mill workers, who, in the name of working class internationalism and at great personal cost, refused to break the blockade on cotton imports from America so as to support the fight against slavery
Or Welsh mining communities who took in the children of Irish workers who were locked out and starved by their bosses during the 1913 lockout
Scottish women, who while their husbands and sons were being butchered in the imperialist carnival of World War I, organised across sectarian lines to resist the wrack renting landlords of the Clydeside slums
Or the hundreds of socialists, communists, anarchists and trade unionists that travelled to Spain (in the name of “woke” principles like working class internationalism and anti-fascism) to fight against Franco and his allies
