This was the night of the last food deliveries to the remaining owlet left on site, from here on this wee guy would have to find his own food and also own place as it was time fledge.
By 9 September all the owlets have fledged the site and the adult male Barn owl comes to the box to check they have all left.
Normally when the owlets fledge the adult birds would move straight back into the nest box, that is if they're not busy somewhere else
The adult male didn't move back in until the morning of 18 Oct but the female wasn't with him. Where could she be?

I posted this clip a few weeks ago of the female turning up at the box, this wasn't a social call, this was the female up to tell the male to get out and hunt as there's hungry chicks to feed. Yes, these birds had a 2nd brood.
Trying to find this 2nd brood without any nighvision gear wasn't easy. Took many nights searching but with the combo of the parabolic mic and my wee mate, Tyto we found the nest just over 1 mile from the main nest box. I've never heard of a 2nd nest so far away before.
Sound on. Shot this clip a few weeks ago, couldn't see the owlet but I could definitely hear it.
I got this clip at 6pm on the evening of 25 Nov. This is most likely the female as all the 2nd brood owlets have now fledged. I can confirm 2 owlets but think there may have been more from the audio I could hear but I only saw 2 out flying.
Now with the 2nd brood fledged you'd think the female would be looking a bit of peace & quiet but no, she was straight back to the male and harassing him to mate with her (I also have that problem) sound on to hear the wing clapping.
Sound on for the exciting bit. The female is inside the box stomping the pellets down and making a scrape to lay her eggs in. She ain't wasting no time. That's you all updated on the Barn owls.
