I don't think people understand the vileness and harassment Indigenous folk coming at them every fucking thanksgiving. I can't tell you the vileness I've seen directed at my friends and in their mentions or coming in their spaces to proudly announce their racism.
For so many folks it's been a day of remembrance or reflection. It's a memorial surrounded by people talking about how they should "just get over it" or "they won't be held accountable for the actions of their ancestors"
as they feast on traditional staple foods of the people they killed and the land they stole but don't see how they benefit. Or how those actions might have ongoing effects in houses warmed by the exploitation of indigenous resources.
More don't want to. Yhere is an arrogance in it "Get over it" "Might makes right" as if pride and will was the determining factor.
Like it's a game of uno.

All unaware of how close that history is. Unaware yhat our religion and culture couldn't be practiced legally until my mom's lifetime, that our language couldn't be taught until mine.
This isn't even touching on the white washing, performative activism from the folk that will never show up or speak up when those assholes come for us, or the abundance of gleeful plague-based jokes this year like you're in on it.
I never want your guilt. You're making up a bully in your head. It's useless to me. I can't build with guilt or help others. I want you to see and understand.
sorry for the typos by the way. I am sick and it's 4 am
