A little bit of a rant. Retro for me is an escape. I unwind with it. I love it but I'm finding it difficult to avoid the hectoring and nagging that goes on. I do contribute to patreons, I do provide feedback and encouragement but there is a huge amount of content out there.
Ctnd. I can't watch it all. I watch many hours a week. Sometimes I'll watch streams sometimes I won't. But there is far, far too much activity trying to drum up views. It's turning me away from it. Nobody should be made to feel guilty that they don't watch enough retro.
Ctnd2. Nobody should feel obliged to watch this and watch that and subscribe to other people because they'll ask other people to subscribe to you. If you are a content producer and you're not enjoying it because you don't feel you have a big enough audience to justify it.
Ctnd3. Then just stop doing it. It's great if you are enjoying it and you want to grow, fantastic. But if you make your current audience feel that they are not good enough and that you're just 'phoning it in' until it grows then you'll chase your audience away.
Ctnd4. I've also seen several small channels grow fast. The key thing they're doing is trying the best they can to make good stuff. They're putting everything into it and not watching the numbers. I'm sure it also takes a bit of luck too.
Ctnd5. But there's a difference between some channels who try hard to make great content and try to make it better. And others who try hard to push their content to more viewers. Get the balance right otherwise you'll have people feeling like me.
