A year ago, and in years past, I kinda hated Thanksgiving what with its forced camaraderie and family reunions. I always wanted the day alone to cook a few steaks and to spend time alone with my own little family.
This year with all of the impacts put upon our elderly by the government responses to COVID-19, my spirit has changed.
We spent this year in a restaurant on top of a fancy big city high rise while my mother was alone and my dad and bonus mom spent the day with just each other.
Next year, or perhaps just a few weeks from now, the holiday will mean something more. Turkey, stuffing, family, noise, messes...all of it. That’s who we are as Americans.
We gather. We hug. We sing. We pray. We love on each other and on our elderly parents who have not many more of these days left.
And the next holiday, we do it again. And we do it as Americans with those rights granted us by God, which no man or court can take away.
I hope you all had a blessed and bountiful Thanksgiving and have many more to celebrate in the future together. As Americans 🇺🇸
