I’m just going to say this, & I say this all the time:

It is always easier to be critical of someone else’s work than actually doing the work.

It’s also impossible to make everyone happy. I try my best to upset as few people as possible while respecting any project I work on⬇️
I don’t go out of my way to upset people. I don’t think most of us do. But when I’m working, I do always end up considering what the audience will think. If the story is getting across. If the characters sound like they should, etc⬇️
I honestly just want people to enjoy the series I work on & I try my best to stay faithful to the source material while making sure everything sounds as natural as possible in English.

I’m not completely against the use of honorifics but I can see why they aren’t used as well⬇️
One of the best things about translation is that there’s more than one way to translate something. There’s a difference being something being subjectively wrong and objectively wrong.

Anyway, please remember to be kind to one another.
Ps: I brought up honorifics as a random example. There are many other things that get considered in translations 😅
