Raffensperger tried to solve the problem with a manual recount to show that there were no problems with the machines.

Raffensperger (poor fool) thought facts and proof would end the matter.

Nope!

So Loeffler and Perdue are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

If they agree that the voting was fraudulent, they have to try to overturn the election. If they deny the voting was fraudulent, they called Dear Leader a liar.

I think Trump wants them to do more to help him.

When I listened to the recording, I heard a veiled threat.

(I typed fast as I listened, so it's a paraphrase).

But that word "but" struck me.

You should be in the Senate, but . . . [I'd like you to do me a favor, though.]

The first time I volunteered to work in a presidential election was 1980.

So I've seen "the Democrats are in disarray" used as an evergreen headline.

So it made me sort of happy to write, "The GOP is in disarray."

Usually, the GOP falls in line.

The Republicans still have 7 weeks to get their act together and fall in line.

But if this Civil War keeps up, Trump could end up suppressing the GOP vote.

"Republicans in Disarray."

I like that headline.

Oh, and you all took a mental health break today, right?

Mine⤵️

What would a malignant narcissistic fascist do after losing an election?

🤔

Throw his support behind Loeffler and Perdue so they win?

Wouldn't it bug him to have OTHER Republicans win after he lost?

10/
Adding this: I quoted the Hill and Washington Post, but reporting supporting this take is widely available.

Elections are won on turnout. In a close election, anything that suppresses the vote on one side can throw the election to the other.

Ordinarily I'd say you can count on the GOP to get its act together (and pull together) before an election.

As @MaxBoot explained it his book, the GOP will overlook much for the sake of "unity on the right."⤵️

But pulling together now might require Trump to give in.

As a disclaimer, I've been watching for a GOP civil war for some time, and it hasn't materialized.

But I'm not seeing Trump saying anything except "I lost the election in Georgia due to widespread fraud," which would have to hurt Loeffler and Perdue.

13/
Precisely. Trump has created a situation in which a portion of GOP voters believes what he says, and only what he says.

In a close election, that portion matters.

This, by the way, is what gives him a lock on much of the GOP leadership.

14/
When you control information, you control people. Trump controls the people who look to him for "facts."

And this is why Trump never tried to control the virus. Instead, he tried to control information and create his own facts.

It didn't work with most of the population.

Apologies, my first tweet was not clear.

I meant that suppressing some of the GOP vote was a likely outcome of this GOP Civil War, and that could lead to throwing the election. https://twitter.com/FlipBlue2020/status/1332350386972266496
