Small story, Back in 1987, Congress was dominating the politics in Gujarat. In 1987 Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation saw elections. Prime Minister Modi was election incharge of that election.
Modi & Co took the elections seriously. Got Vajpayee, Advani and other big shots to campaign in Ahmedabad.
Modi could sense the under current and anger against Congress and big shots to campaign in local bodies poll. BJP won by a landslide. Few years latter came to power in Gujarat.
Win in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation elections propelled BJP win across the state few years latter. BJP is yet to lose in Gujarat. PM Modi has managed local bodies to Parliament election. Local bodies key to governance.
Nothing new in BJP taking municipal polls seriously. In 2012-13 BJP took municipal polls in UP seriously. A year latter won 73 Lok Sabha seats. Having representative in every ward will give big wins in assembly and parliament elections.
