🚨🚨🚨STOP SCROLLING 🚨🚨🚨

Want to stop Trump 2.0 in 2024 and finally end the rightwards drift that has plagued our country? Please read on & retweet. 1/
There are three distinct groups in America right now in terms of *messaging.* Fascists, liberals, and leftists.

Fascists use every opportunity to push the Overton window rightwards, allowing them to consolidate both power and wealth. 2/
They do the same for the purposes of hurting anyone who isn't rich, white, straight, and Christian.

Liberals use every opportunity to push "best of all worlds" propaganda, 3/
e.g., "The system is working!"

"We can resolve our differences through debate & voting."

"Poverty, racism, etc. exists, but it will always exist and we can't stop it all."

"We HAVE to compromise!" 4/
They know exactly how to craft & execute winning opposition narratives, but they save it for leftists. 5/
Liberal messaging tends to placate & paralyze those who subscribe to it, making them accept things as-is; whereas fascist messaging infuriates & agitates their listeners; it spurs them into action. 6/
This creates a symbiotic relationship between fascists and liberals. Notice how they both use the other as an excuse why they can't do what they want to do, or to justify continued oppression by their own group. 7/
The result is that figures like Pelosi and McConnell alike amass wealth, and US leadership drifts right even as the population drifts left. Change feels impossible. 8/
For their part, liberals have already launched a massive effort to rehabilitate their image and prime their followers to accept pulling a 9-inch-knife out by 6 inches as "progress." 9/
What does leftist messaging do?

Try to characterize it yourself before continuing. 10/
In my estimation, leftist messaging does a lot of things. It convinces us that a better world is possible, but what that looks like is extremely murky. It convinces us that nobody will help us build it. That no one will face punishment for hurting us. 11/
It tears down fascist or liberal messaging *without always replacing it,* allowing the untouched narrative an opening (to our detriment). 12/
What leftist messaging does *not* currently do is provide a sustained, unified opposition to fascist & liberal messaging, while remaining flexible enough to adopt new talking points & toss out ones that have outlived their usefulness. 13/
For leftists nationwide, controlling the narrative is the most important skill for you to learn *right now.* It's far more important than reading theory, which we frequently use as an excuse to put off getting involved in real action (I know I did). 14/
It's as important as marching in the streets--with the advantage that controlling the narrative can be done at any time, anywhere, without much prior planning. 15/
Using only this skill, our leaders have accomplished an unheard-of concentration of power and wealth.

This skill has even assured a "peaceful" transition of power between Biden & Trump; because otherwise, the grift may finally fall apart and the profits might evaporate. 16/
To start learning, read How Change Happens by Cass R. Sunstein. He's a liberal, so don't give him money. Hint hint.

Some of what he says is ridiculous. His analysis of specific people & events is often wrong. Feel free to disregard it. 17/
But pay attention to terms like group polarization, norms & their role in society, norm breakers, forcing choices, etc. Ask yourself how you can use these mechanisms he describes, and how they have been used on you by both fascists & liberals all your life. 18/
At the same time, start looking for prominent leftists that understand this system as a framework for you to learn from. @briebriejoy is a great example. Look at how she picks out popular narratives and *discredits* them. 19/
Discrediting is different than simply attacking; it involves planting seeds of doubt in the minds of a pundit's base, rather than simply throwing accusations. That means understanding how their base thinks. 20/
This is one of the rare times BJG's messaging has slight "attack" elements--it makes listeners of PodSaveAmerica feel as if they are being called ignorant, making them less receptive to leftist messaging. (Not calling her out! It's just an example.) 21/
But notice how she still puts fault firmly on the podcast hosts, eroding their reputation as informative media. 22/
Others that "get it" are @GravelInstitute, @AOC, @peterdaou, and probably a whole lot of others I'm forgetting right now. 23/
Another step you should take is to join your local leftist org and engage in action with them. Again, this is more important than reading theory. You will learn more applicable info than a book written over a century ago. Thread on that: 24/ https://twitter.com/BK_Seemo/status/1317959172663685122?s=20
Leftists must also abandon the notion that party politics should be ignored. Your main focus locally should depend on what actions are available, realistic, & provide the greatest returns. All these things shift based on local political machines & zeitgeist. 25/
(To get a sense of how all these variables comingle in your area, join your local leftist org.) 26/
But in many cases, swearing off party politics gives your enemies a safe space to cultivate and maintain power. That's not something you should feel good about. The people should always strike terror in the hearts of its leaders, wherever they go. 27/
In terms of concrete actions, here's my personal plan for the next four years. 28/
Step 1. Phonebank like hell for the Senate runoffs in Georgia. Liberals would love the excuse of an R-controlled Senate to never fight for anything that helps us. By giving them a Dem Senate, all responsibility falls on them, making it easier to erode their image. 29/
Step 2. Block all attempts for liberals to shift blame & rehab their own image. Make them own the death, sickness, & depression that they *have* and *will* cause in the name of UnItY aNd CoMpRoMiSe. 30/
Step 3. Push for truly leftist candidates to run at all levels of government. Run as a Green, as an Independent, as a Democrat, or under the People's Party; it makes no difference to me. I just want leftists in government. 31/
Step 4. Work to characterize leftists as distinct from, and preferable to, both Democrats and Republicans.

Without steps 3 and 4, our work will just create a power vacuum that fascists use to retake the majority. (See Obama's entire presidency.) 32/
Step 5. Convince local leftist orgs to partner with eachother to elevate each other's campaigns. 33/
e.g., if DSA has a local campaign to introduce a housing bill to city council, the local Sunshine Movement, Green Party, FNB, SRA etc. should formally endorse it, march with them, and boost them on social media. 34/
This should be a no-brainer but it doesn't happen everywhere (or even very often). For a great example of this done right, see @213axelrod's work on the #NoAmerenShutoffs campaign. 35/
Step 6. Continue to push new leftists into joining up with orgs at the local level; having organized opposition is better than just having a lot of it. 36/
Contrary to most leftists, I feel good about the next four years. We're getting a do-over on Obama's presidency. This time, we're more organized, there's more of us, we know what happens next, and we've learned a lot of important lessons. 37/
Feel free to ask me any questions or shoot me a DM for tips. I look foward to the revolution with you.

And if @GravelInstitute needs any strategists, I'm poor and jobless. 38/
