'On this, the day for the elimination of patriarchal violence against women, we, the good maidens, affirm our commitment to the first rule of patriarchy: female people must never be allowed to centre their own needs, experience or interests, because other people matter more.'

Even me and my potty mouth usually try not to swear at our elected representatives.

I repeat: YOU ARE A FUCKING DISGRACE. https://twitter.com/janeclarejones/status/1331741795487801351?s=20
What I will say tho, thank you all for your service to the further unconcealment of the staggering extent of this woman-erasing and denigrating bullshit.
Maybe centring trans women and deliberately trolling women and trying to put them in their place on IDEVAW wasn't the best way of demonstrating how there is no conflict of interests here eh?

You patriarchy-pandering fools.
Further thought: I don't like the word 'handmaiden'... my belief is that we should always keep our eyes on the structure, and not on individuals, and we should try to avoid blaming particular women for doing the things they have been conditioned to do.

Women are socialised into
self-abnegation, and to centre the interests of males. They are socialised to think women are not fully human, and that their role is to be of service to the people who are. If they feel themselves to be human, they are also socialised, therefore, to identify with the default
patriarchal definition of the human, which is male. And they are also, as a consequence, socialised to think that the erasure of the female is somehow a form of liberation for women.

All of this is amply on display in the way many women explain their self-abnegating allegiance
the erasure of female people as a class. The think women being female is incompatible with women being human. They think asserting we are female 'reduces' us. They think pretending we are not female will somehow liberate us. They think feminism cannot therefore be about the
humanity and liberation of female people qua female. They think feminism must then be about not centering female people and instead be about liberating everyone. They think feminism must be about female people putting other people before themselves.
And so, they have been convinced that feminism is actually about the performance of female socialisation.

That it is a repetition of the self-abnegation and 'being of service' that is the core mechanism of our oppression.

How much do they really believe this. And how much is it
all driven by the more-or-less conscious sense that they will be given approval, or exempted from penalty, for performing the exemplary task of remodelling feminism as patriarchal female socialisation?
I try not to judge them. I tell myself that this is the structure, and that women are only doing what they have learned they should do to survive.

But this, this is too much. This is more sickening that I can stand.
