According to @RobinhoodApp The State of Women Investors Today report:

- Nearly half of the women surveyed said they don’t believe they have what it takes to be an investor

- 73% of women have made a financial resolution to save more, compared to 16% of women who made a resolution to invest more

- 86% of women worry about losing money if they were to invest 3/9

Women are underserved by wealth management and the industry is missing out – according to an @OliverWyman report there’s “at least a $700 billion revenue opportunity from better serving women as customers” 4/9

Also, @McKinsey finds that “An unprecedented amount of assets will shift into the hands of US women over the next three to five years, representing a $30 trillion opportunity” 5/9

How women invest differently than men. According to @bcg women:
- Invest on the basis of their values e.g. ESG concerns
- Seek a high degree of confidence (what often appears as lower risk tolerance)
- Invest for the long term, trade less frequently, are more diversified 6/9

The investment gap and the pay gap are related. Globally women are paid 63 cents of a man’s dollar. Personally, I notice this by how many of my male friends talk about investing and their personal finances, while in conversations with my female friends the topic of how we invest our money rarely (read never) occurs 8/9

Investing is a huge wealth creator and women are missing out. Millennial women are the most highly educated generation and entering the workforce in ever-increasing numbers. It’s time we start talking about money and for the financial industry to shift focus on women 9/9
