A thread that will be covering Sakura’s character throughout the story and explaining why she is factually the best female character in Naruto despite the female cast completely lackin. Might be a long thread 👀 Ppl tend to miss out on her character completely so here I am
First lets start from the beginning. Sakura is an arrogant, typical, and mean young girl who can’t even truly express herself. Many girls in the village is like Sakura actually but she had the misfortune of being on the same team as the 2 protagonist.
So naturally there was many expectations of her when it came to skill/jutsu and her character but here’s the thing... she’s NORMAL. A completely normal ninja just like many of others that aren’t from amazing clans with their own unique jutsus.
So what happens when this girl gets the misfortune of being placed in the same team as the 2 protagonist who both are from godly clans and unique upbringings? She gets completely overshadowed and very useless compared to the two
How does she overcome this when she isn’t from a special clan and just completely normal? 1.)Remove her from the main cast let alone the two protagonist or 2.) Give her asspull power ups so he can compete but Kishimoto doesn’t do that so we’re stuck with this version of her
Not to mention who she was as a person didn’t help her case. She falls in love with Sasuke simply because of his looks and him being cool and I mean CRAZY in love where it does become annoying and is like all the other young girls in school who hates Naruto and shits on him
But here’s the thing they don’t know Naruto’s upbringing and why he does what he does. These girls just finds him completely annoying, someone who always wants attention, and gets the other kids in trouble. And it didn’t help that this same kid was obsessed with Sakura.
So she says some fucked up shit about Naruto being the young girl she is and not knowing any better thats why Kishimoto had Sasuke the boy who she admires to tell her wrong so that we can get some character progression from her
Not long after we see her admit she was wrong and how she will try and be more accepting of Naruto and try to be his friend especially when she doesn’t understand like us the readers. Even during the written part of the chunin exams we start to see compassion from this character.
Kishimoto simply humanizing her more and more. Showing how she truly care about Naruto when she was about to call it quits because she didn’t want his dream of becoming Hokage to be gone forever because he was simply too stubborn.
Before I continue the thing with Sakura is Kishimoto humanized her too much in an unrealistic world. She was the most humanizing character in the entire series. Which I understand why because she was normal and apart of the main cast so he had to take that direction with her.
We even see during the forest how she even admits her flaws getting not just progression from her but now development. She realizes she was too girly and didn’t take being a ninja serious instead of truly acknowledging she’s a ninja now and has to hold her own!
She makes that step forward by cutting her hair PROVING to HERSELF. That she’s moving pass the typical Sakura who only cared about her hair, makeup, and boys. Although her love for Sasuke was still there.
This seemingly was going to be a big moment for her which it probably was if she was noelle with the terrible power system but she isn’t. She takes the L after trying like really trying but life isn’t fair. She didn’t get a major powerup to overcome the sound ninja.
But we gotta character development from her. Now turning back a little. Sakura might just be normal but she did have one amazing gift. Which was the best chakra control out of all the genin in the village. She just didn’t know how to utilize it.
Because unlike Naruto and Sasuke she didn’t meet her master yet who was just right for her. So until then she’s still burdened with her uselessness and falling behind which is very realistic and shows how you can’t overcome things sometimes without the help of someone (Tsunade)
After Naruto failed to bring Sasuke back she didn’t blame him but only blamed her own uselessness so then we finally get a goal from her and a great one. To become a great Kunochi just like Tsunade where she’s able to hold her own and help out instead needing saving all the time.
So now we’re in Shippuden. In this part you all can say she’s still annoying which is cool whatever that is subjective but USELESS??? Is completely inaccurate. Through hard work and not giving up on herself she became a great ninja.
Saving Konkuro’s life, saving Chiyo’s life multiple times and being a major key in Sasori’s defeat when he himself acknowledged her. But yet it isn’t enough yet. She still continues to fall behind Naruto and Sasuke and how she can’t protect her save either of them.
She sometimes still needs saving and still confused on the inside. So lets fast forward. She knows Sasuke is big criminal and she knows she shouldn’t be in love with someone like that and should give up on him. And what truly convinces her is the talk with Sai.
He basically tells her the promise that Naruto made to you about Sasuke is tearing him up on the inside and that he basically doesn’t wanna give up on Sasuke because of it.
It’s all your fault Sakura so you probably have to do something about it since Naruto won’t be convinced on what we’re planning to do to Sasuke. So because of Sai Sakura comes up with a plan with this false narrative that Sai planted into her head
Sakura lies to Naruto about having a crush on him and tells him to forget about Sasuke because she doesn’t care about him no more since he’s a criminal. Luckily Naruto sees through the bullshit and tells her to stop it. So I don’t blame Sakura here at all I blame Sai.
Now here is where ppl gets mad at Sakura character the most. For knocking everyone out on their way to kill Sasuke because she wanted to do it herself but in the end couldn’t. Before I say why do you all think they wouldn’t have been killed if they tried to kill Sasuke?
Even while weaken Sasuke would’ve take out majority of them thats the level he was at from the others so Sakura actually did them a favor since they were also being foolish not just Sakura. The reason why Sakura wanted to do this herself was because—
She wanted to prove to herself that was truly over Sasuke. Her mind wanted to believe that but her heart couldn’t. Why she fell in love with him in the first place is irrelevant. Ppl fall in love in mysterious ways especially young girls.
Many of her peers were always worrying about her and how she felt for Sasuke so she wanted to prove to herself that she was truly over him by killing him herself
But in the end she couldn’t which you can say is annoying but very humanizing and realistic. A lot of us won’t be able to simply kill the one we love just because they are a criminal especially if this love one fought death battles with you and almost died for you
A big part of Sakura’s character was all about proving things to herself. Her character growth isn’t because of others majority of the time but herself. I’m going to wrap this up though. I could go on about how she isn’t useless at all during Shippuden but no.
Only discussing her character. The final part of her character is finally reaching a level where she can truly hold her own and protect both Naruto and Sasuke also becoming a legendary ninja through hard work alone and even helping to defeat Kaguya.
This is why Sakura is easily the best female character in Naruto and no longer useless like all the bandwagons claim she is who can never think for themselves
