I’m lucky to be helping out on the crabapple project - our goals are to restore orchards and transplants trees to increase fruit production throughout the territories. Bears, birds, humans and all sorts of animals will benefit.
The Wuikinuxv Nation considers their non-human relatives in land and sea management decisions and always has. This model worked so well be for colonial over-exploitation disrupted it.
Indigenous stewardship stems from millennia of ingenuity and place-based learning. It’s time for settler management to incorporate or give land back.
