This is Dr. June Raine, the interim CEO of the Medical & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) responsible for overseeing the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine. Over the past decade the MHRA has received $7.15m from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, $1.37m of it this year.

In September 2015, in a Forum held by the Academy of Medical Sciences, Dr, Raine stated: ‘the world of reactive regulation is the world of the past’, as regulation becomes increasingly proactive in planning active surveillance.
