This whole scenario has shown that many people think 'kidnapping' has to be what we usually see on TV. The grabbing, the white van, the gagging etc.
But really it could be subtle things that can be quickly and easily be considered normal.

Things such as secret communication, and with social media, this is the prime way to do it; forming relationships with victims- making themselves familiar to ward of suspicion; intimidation etc.
There's also dangling favours and promises.
And these intensify over time and before you know it, the teens are long gone.
