The US reported +1,951 new coronavirus deaths, bringing the total to 260,283. The 7-day moving average continued rising to 1,474 per day, its highest level since May 18th.
The US had +201,083 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, a new record, bringing the total to over 12.2 million. The 7-day moving average continued rising to over 171,000 per day.
The US now has nearly 4.7 million active cases, and rising.
The positive test rate, nationally, remained at 10.0% today.
42 US states had over 1,000 new cases today, of which 14 states had over 5,000. Texas, California, and Illinois each had over 13,000 new cases today, followed by Michigan with over 10,000.
Texas is now averaging over 11,700 new cases per day, surpassing its previous peak this summer.
Texas is now averaging 144 COVID-19 deaths per day.
California had a record number of new cases today for the 2nd day in a row. Its 7-day moving average has now surpassed its previous peak in late July.
Illinois' average daily death toll is now higher than its previous peak in May.
Michigan had a record number of new cases today.
Florida is now back to over 7,500 new cases per day.
Ohio had a record number of new cases today.
Pennsylvania had a record number of new cases today, for the 3rd day in a row.
Kansas had a record number of COVID-19 deaths today.
Utah had a record number of new cases today.
Arizona had its highest number of new cases today since its previous peak on July 1st.
Kentucky had a record number of new cases today, for the 2nd day in a row.
Idaho had a record number of new cases today.
Oregon had a record number of new cases today, for the 2nd day in a row.
