"He's more machine than man"

Yes Obi-wan but in more ways than you realize...And you are the reason. One of the biggest things people miss about the prequels message is that Anakin being told emotions are bad is what caused him to fall.
Yes we all love what George was saying about politics now and the films don't get as much hate anymore but this theme gets ignored. In fact recent stories seem to have come down on the idea that we should hide emotions.
If a boy had just been allowed to love his mother she might not have been captured, if he had just been allowed to mourn he might not have become obsessive over his wife.
And this isn't to say Obi-Wan is bad, he's suffering from it too. He can't feel sad, so instead he blames himself. He blames Anakin, he doesn't see the real problem.
And he set Luke on that same path and the patterned repeated, Ben needed someone to talk to. Not to be talked too. He needed to feel love, but love is a weakness so no.
And our new heroes are set to suffer the same fall. Rey can't mourn her love, because that is weakness. None of them have learned to express emotions really, Finn seems directionless, Poe seems to have not grown in all three films.
The Mando is suffering from this aswell, the character denies himself love regularly and he's seen as stoic for it.
And add to this the villains of SWs understand love and emotions, but use it for selfish reasons. They see the heroes hiding their emotions as what it really is...a weakness.
Palpatine listens to both Anakin and Ben preying on the things they are trying to suppress. Telling them he can fix their problems, If they had been allowed to express those things he wouldn't have been able to use it against them.
